Known to most as “Roz,” Rosalind Miller has been a dedicated direct support professional (DSP) at Rise for more than 17 years.

“There is no other field that I’d rather work in,” says Roz. “It’s an honor to work with this community of people.”

Roz first worked as a direct support professional (DSP) for another provider for five years. She then accepted a DSP position at the Rise Cottage Grove location where she worked for 10 years and has now been at the Rise Oakdale site for seven years.

At Rise Oakdale, Roz is responsible for helping empower 56 adults who have intellectual disabilities and related conditions by supporting them in various settings. For example, she and other DSPs alternate between the production work floor, arts and crafts, health and wellness activities, community job crews, transporting individuals to work and community outings, and more.

When asked what drew her to the field, Roz references her parents.

“My parents would help older people at our church. It was instilled in me watching my parents support people. For me, it was a calling that I humbly accepted.”

Described as a patient, friendly, and hard worker, Roz values her teammates and likes working for a company that cares about the people they serve and their employees.

“I work with good staff at Rise Oakdale. It’s a blessing. I tip my hat to all of the people who work in this field.”

Outside of work, Roz enjoys spending time with her family, including seven children and ten grandchildren. She and her husband are also active with the Hennepin County prison ministry program.
